ok, so I guess I'M the old one.....

Alright, I mixed my 'Peters' up...hmmmm, anyway, Frampton did not sing, 'Pin Ball Wizard', that was Peter Townshend. Frampton had that funky guitar thing where he blew into a mouth piece and his words got so distorted he was able to say some really raunchy stuff and get away with it...guess he was ahead of his time. But the point remains----either Peter can't pull off the suit and tie thing, well, guess they can both 'pull them off' but, oh lord, nevermind.... oh gosh, I better just go take a nap!!!!

ok, guess my fingers just keep talkin' today!

So I'm checkin' out my internet news and there I find a teenage heart throb of mine!! There's a pic of Peter Frampton!! He is complaining about someone stealing his Obama signs (big whoop!) or some such nonsense. The thing is, this does not look like Frampton AT ALL. I mean he is OLD, man...he's really grey/white headed, kinda balding---no biggy there for me, I like that, (check out dear hubby) but the real kicker is....he is wearing a suit and tie!!! C'mon, a SUIT AND TIE. Now that is not the old rocker from the 70's who was on stage at Tampa Stadium squeeling out, "Pin Ball Wizard" while we were on the ground inhaling!!!! What heck is going on here!!!

not to get too political, but........

Ok, so I'm a died-in-the-wool, hard core, right wing, Bible thumpin' Republican....most of the time. But, I gotta tell ya, as a white mom of a, no, THE most precious, cutest little chunk of gold that God ever dropped on this planet, my black son, I am totally and completely smitten by the photos of Obama and his momma! (wow, could that become a chant much akin to 'Drill Baby Drill---'Obama And His Mama'). I have looked for 9---yes NINE solid years for a piece of artwork ANY piece of artwork--a picture, a lithograph, a sculputre, a poster, ANYTHING of a white mom with an African American little boy in it. NOTHING, I tell you I've come up with nothing!! Oh, I've been gifted with the black cherub, the black Santa, even checked out the black Jesus, but I've not been able to run across that perfect senario so uniquely ours. Sooooooo, guess this kinda proves my point, which is that when one is so closely aligned with a certain set of circumstances, or something happens in ones life that goes really deep, it has the ability to consel out even the slightest shred of objectivity. It happens to all of us....we simply see through the glasses of our own lives. And right now, I can't seem to shake off that image of the white mama holdin' the black child! Again, I'm totally smitten......in many ways.
P.S. And I love this quote, 'It takes a lot of money to look this cheap'!!! Dolly Parton.

My hair is lookin' a bit spooky!

ok, ya know how when ya have a 'bad hair day' or 'bed head' how annoying that is??? Well, it seems I'm in the midst of having a 'bad hair' YEAR!! Just before surgery this summer I decided I would take off my nails (that could sound rough to POW John McCain, but you gals know what I mean!), let my hair grow out---which means in length and color, and just in general say 'screw it' for awhile. That attitude is not hard to come by when ya allow a few men to actually cut up your face. Well, after that huge ordeal of having half my nose removed and things moved around a bit I'm sort of feeling put back together. Swelling is going down, scars seem to be fading, so it's time to put the nails on, color and cut the hair and become a human being again!!! So, that is what I attempted to do....I went to your fav. store addiction and mine-Wal Mart had my nails replaced (oh how I had missed them!) then on to the hair. I made an appointment with 'my girl'. She is so wonderful, sweet, good attitude (or NO attitude, rather). Well, she made me blond again! And WOW, is it blond! At first it was OMIGOSH----really yellow...sooo I went back to 'my girl' and had her fix it. It was just too yellow. So she dutifully did what I had asked her to do in the first place---make me 'AnnaNicole Smith blond', or more appropriately 'Cindy McCain blond'---really white. I had a lot of gray to cover, and cover she did.

Ok, between my hair, nails and back to Clinique, I'm feeling a bit more.....ummmm...more my artificial/real self!!! Love it!

That's it for today.....need to go moisture my over-processed hair!

Praise the Lord and pass the plate!!!

I have no idea what I'm planning on babbling about this chilly evening! Guess I'll just let my fingers do the walkin'! (hey, you that are old, you remember that saying, don't cha!).

Speaking of 'old', dear hubby is turning 49 tomorrow!! YIKES, that means I'M married to a 49 year old!!! It seems like my mom should be the one married to a 49 yr. old (better not give her any ideas)---never mind, that is a WHOLE nuther story!!! And he seems to be acting every minute of it....it's about 10:30 P.M. and he is next to me sawin' logs!!! He could go to bed at 9:00 P.M. on each and every Sat. night if I"d let him and he'd be as content as could be!! With all the crap I've had to endure as a middle aged female, he is officially now a mere 366 days from his first colonoscopy, whether he knows it or not! Yep, early Monday A.M., my plans are to set him an appointment for next Halloween! Additionally, he is going to hear about it all year long!!! He is so healthy....PTL! He takes not ONE medication (as opposed to myself---I have so much crap to take that I can't travel because I don't have a large enough suitcase to handle even all my 'just in case' meds!), he hardly ever gets sick, I had to FORCE him to the Dr. this past yr. for a first check up in DECADES! (that's when I hatched my plan of the- day-ya-turn-50-your-gettin'-the-colon surprise!).

Anyway, he is a Prince, My Prince and I plan on forcing, pulling, proding, nugging and nagging him to the Dr. for the next umpteen years if I have to, because I'm planning on keeping him around a long, long way past 49.

Happy Birthday, dear.

She's baaaaccckkk!

Ok, Ok, I'm here again!!! At this point, I have no idea what to rant or rave about....life seems to be plugging along nicely, albeit a tad too fast!!!

I was able to have lunch yesterday, with an old friend. I mean I have not laid eyes on this guy for approx. 30, yes, 30 years!!! Wow, that was crazy! He was a roomate at one time...now let me explain that just in case little, oh, let's say, little 11 yr. old eyes read this. Anyway, WAY back in my late teens/very early twenties I had a couple of roomates that were and still are life-long treasured friends, that remain that to this day. We were a sort of Three's Company's deal, one guy, two chicks! Nothing romantic going on, just friends who decided we could get a nicer place if we pooled our lives and our money! And that we did---it was a great place. A 4 bedroom apt. in university town in Florida (which now is home to the USF Bulls-who, BTW, VERY unexpectedly cleaned the clock of my beloved WV Mountaineers last season-but I'm way off course here). Anyway, the apartment was a grand one---had tons of room, a huge vaulted ceiling with a spiral staircase leading up to 3 additional bedrooms and a full bath. It came with washer/dryer, great kitchen (not that we cooked at all, probably just dried out, ummm, well nevermind), had a couple of pools and, the best part was, university students as neighbors!!! Life was great! We made some great memories, mixed in with several, probably many, crazy ones. As a result, we all stayed true friends, way beyond what we would have ever thought possible. Ok, so this guy was passing through Hotlanta this weekend and called, so we got together. Now I don't make it a practice of meeting men for lunch, however, dear hubby knows the entire circumstance and he was perfectly fine with this appointment. We were hoping he could join us, but was too busy at work. Jimbo and I shared a sweet time of laughter and reminisance. He hadn't changed a bit! After a long lunch, he had to be on his way to the great sister state of NC (!). As I pondered our time together, I decided to make a list of my long term friendships. I counted 9....Nine people of whom I have been friends with my entire adult life! That seems like a lot to me. These are people that I feel like I could call day or night, for anything at anytime. They still love me in spite of my crows feet, hot flashes and big bottom!! I don't get the feeling that Jimbo even noticed those things--yeah, right! But that is a sense of true love, true friendship, life long and solid. It's not going anywhere. The first one, or maybe last, depending on how ya count, on my list is one who has been there the longest. The list begins, and probably will end with her. I knew her before....almost before our time began!! She is my namesake....and she knows who she is. I love you, L. J., thanks for the fun, the friendship, the memories that we share. It won't end till the end!

Ok, I'm just checkin' this out...does it still work? Can I begin to rant again?
