My DH and I are sitting on our hind ends this evening watching TV. Nothing much on really, as usual. He has control of the buttons for the moment....we don't squabble over that too much, we tend to take turns (usually!). Anyway, I am busy busy busy pouring over web sites switching back and forth between make up artistry and wedding sites, throughly enjoying and basking in the glories of being female, while he was completely content having his testosterone-fest switching back and forth between some goofy Star Track and the latest adventures of Spider Man! How have we made it for 23 years!?! He decided to call it a day and he handed over the remote....I proceded to watch anything-but-that and ended up with old reruns of Designing Women....I LOVED those Women, I still do! I LOVED the 80's! Looks like they are coming back in their own way. The classic big Texas-hair, the shoulder pads, those huge gaudy earrings that matched perfectly with the bold colors of silk button- downs with over-sized collars. Not to mention those incredible impeccable interiors of cranberries, yellows, peaches, teals and emeralds. Which 'Women' was your fav?? They are all great in their own way, I could never just pick one as a fav., depends on what mood I'm in. The writers did a great job at capturing and combining so many attributes of the female in each character and developing them through out the years. And yes, I watched each and every episode multiple times---I even have the DVD of the 'best of''s!
Well, you can see by this post that things are coasting along in a fairly mundane way around here, which, with 2 away in college, could change at any moment! Sooooo, until the next crisis hits I'll leave you with this thought,
'Georgia, sweet Georgia, got chu on my mind".....(think Ray Charles at the white baby grand!)
Good bye to Julia, Mary Jo, Suzanne and Charlene.....we miss you!!!
Ok, I know that was totally off the charts goofy, but I can't help it, and it's WAY better that Superman!

Sandra's funeral
"Sandra, you would have been very pleased and blessed! Your service was a wonderfully warm and sensitive tribute to you, your life and your family. I was so moved to have been there. We didn't know you all that well, but we know you MUCH better now, just from attending..it was so personal. Josh sang that piece written especially for you...all I can say is WOW! The tears flowed! Your Pastor said that each segment of your funeral was completely planned by you.....all I can say is WELL DONE, Sweet sister!"

FREAKING Dental Woes
So I go back to the dentist, as scheduled yesterday, to have these two stupid mid-life cavities filled. Now, I'm not historically a known to be a 'good' dental patient....I have to have my amunition in place to even get in the door when I know there is a drill in my near future. So I arrived, Xanix ingested, Pepto bismal in hand, extra cash (to pay for the laughing gas) and ready to go. She filled the top one, no problem, took all of 15 minutes. I was doing just fine. BTW, although I feel a bit like 'Hannible Lector" (never actually saw the movie, but who hasn't heard!) because of the face mask thing, I do really love the gas. Then came the lower one..... she could not get me numb enough to do the work...wow, she had to hit me up with extra anesthesia, then try and drill, then more shots, then try and drill, then yet another shot of the juice before she could actually drill! I had at least 4 attempts at getting numb before she finally got there.....and almost 3 hrs. later I was driving away. C'mon....this was ridiculous!!! My childish self decided I would never return to another dentist as long as I lived, however, I will plan on doing to opposite. Instead of getting a check up every 6 months, I am going to get one every 3 months, so we can catch anything that even looks suspicious very very early on. This dentist has this fancy-smancy lasor drill that she can use without the numbing agents on certain situations....THAT'S my kind of dentistry! Well, so much for my attempt at further boring you at each post! Sorry, I just HAD to express my frustration at the whole thing!

p.s. Alpharetta is really nice!
For fear that I offended anyone, Alpharetta , GA is really a beautiful place....it IS overcrowded, and I've never actually lived there, but it appears completely lovely!!

I'm one of 'The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything'!!
I just realized, yesterday, on this hidious, ridiculously long, torturously terrible drive home last night (from the heart of overcrowded, overpriced obnoixous Alpharetta to the the rural emerald pastures of Loganville) that I am, in theory, one of those Veggie Tales's Pirates!! It isn't news to me, but it was reinforced once again to me at my strategy class yesterday, that, although I have my 'many daily tasks at hand' that I work on (I think I covered this subject on previous posts) I have this strangely amazing job that either I don't really have, or that I just don't work at much!!! I'll explain what the hect I'm saying....on arrival at the posh Embassy Suites yesterday, each white lab jacket-ed Clinique consultant was greeted with an incredibly huge smile, big hearted hug, tons of very upbeat music, clapping, laughing, dancing and singing! The convention room (the same one we meet at 2-3 times per yr) was decked out in orange (for our signature fragrance-HAPPY) and silver balloons, silver trays, hershey's kisses linen table clothes, ect, ect, ect. It was a real party atmosphere, and the theme this season, happens to be "Let's start a party"! And party we did!!! The whole day we discussed our business that was elegantly wrapped around party games, give aways, great food and fun! We tried new product, reviewed established product, examined new Trends and learned alot. We lunched together in the dining room fit for a Queen (did I mentioned we also had tiaras!), candle lit desserts, and impecable service. This is nothing new for us....we are consistantly teated extremely well, given over 100 dollars worth of product in a lovely bag and we are paid a very nice wage for each hour spent there. In addition many of us achieved 'accredited consultant' status yesterday. We were presented with a gorgeous custom made jade-n-sterling braclet that was designed and created by Links of London, the jeweler in London that Clinique does all their business with. And blah blah blah, never end to the perks and quirks that befell us!!! Now, lest you think I brag, the interesting 'don't do anything' part is that despite all the high energy pagentry and pats on the back, I really do very little to ZERO work! I have NO, NOT ONE, ZERO, NADA hours this month to work! The same thing happened last July (retailers hold their inventory and fiscal junk in July and January). I had only 15 hours last MONTH, not week, MONTH in December....it's retail at Christmas, hello! November was better, as was October, but on a good month I work only 20-25 hrs! I go in at 11 and am off counter by 4---better than banker's hours! (By the way,No work still=no pay!!!!) I'm not really complaining that much, just making an observation, that I have this really great company who has given me wonderful opportunity and lots of 'at-a-boys,' titles, celebration and products but I hardly ever work! I guess I could even call myself one of those "Hollywood Movie Stars Who Don't Do Anything" or anything else I wanted to be....how about if I'm one of those "Heart Surgeons Who Don't Do Anything", as long as I don't perform I can be one of those "anythings Who Don't Do Anything". Well, I think you've heard enough of my rants and raves for one post.... besides I need to get back to the O.R. !!!

"Life" is full of hard choices......!
Ok, so I could just sit here and read my new 'coins' magazine and really learn something, (thank you my North Carolinian friends who have successfully piqued my interest), or I could watch the show 'Mythbusters' (yawn), or I could keep expressing myself here on my very own blogspot! I'll choose # 3. So, here are a few of the promised pics....I know you were on the edge of your seats waiting for these, so I'll give it up now, so here we go:
Stay tuned, pictures coming soon...
DH has said, 'you need to load pictures on this thing', at least twice now... well, DH, you know we have been married 23 yrs. now and I'M NOT the one who is techno-savvy enough to 'load pictures on this thing'. I'm lucky I can do what I'm doing here. So, when he gets around to doing it, we should have pics uploaded on this blog, or is it downloaded?! I love you, Dear!

Dental woes...
Went to the dentist today. Needed the cleaning/check up thing. Wasn't too bad, although I do have 2 cavities. What's with that, I thought ya were supposed to stop with the cavity non-sense by 10 or 12 yrs old? I'll be 48 in a few weeks and I'm still getting these blasted 'sugar-bugs'!!! (that's what the dentist called Justin's cavity--thus making my point---HE IS 8 YRS. OLD!!) Come on, isn't it enough to have to worry about cholesteral, hormones and breast cancer???
Anyone listening??
So I understand I have a fan or two out there...(and you know who you are!). Thanks for reading this stuff....don't know really why I started writing, but I appreciate those of you who are indulging me here!! Friends are an essential part of life...sometimes we forget that. I don't have many, but the ones I have are priceless! Thanks. Love you!
what's a title with no content????
Ok, I told you I was still learning here......
Occasionally I have the priviledge to escort my dad down to the VA hospital in the heart of 'Hotlanta'. Yesterday was one of those days....he just needs to get checked out sometimes. Everything turned out just fine...matter of fact, each treatment/procedure he has had down there has come out A-OK!!! Am glad to see my taxes working! We are usually destined to hang out there at least 4 hrs. each visit. Yesterday was no different. The artwork/decor (and I'm using the term 'decor' VERY loosly here!) in the particular clinic that we visit seems to focus on the Vietnam era. Many framed prints and lithographs hang on the walls, offering interesting interpretations of what was going on during that decade of unrest. Each time I wander thru the halls, waiting for his name to be called (so we could run to the nurse like hungry puppy dogs waiting patiently for a glimpse of a dish of chow!), my heart can't help but be moved and touched as an interesting combination of emotions ranging from pride, humility, and wonder, with a side of guilt thrown in. erupts. Even, at moments, to the point of tears as I observe this vast field of gray headed gentlemen, many in wheelchairs being assisted by dutiful wives and daughters, who are simply trying to make it. I wonder about what their experiences were, how did they do it? how did they handle what was asked of them? How did they make it this far with the sites, smells and images we all know they had to have known. Well, however, they did it I am grateful afresh at each interaction with them, that they went, and mostly, that they returned. Thank you, Vets. You are truly our heros.

Who wants to go back to the silly routine....
ME, ME, I DO I DO....I don't know about any of you, but I'm soooooooo glad to be back. Back to the routine of my life. I'm finding that I end up in a bit of a 'Scrooge' mode that rears it's ugly head just prior to New Yrs. eve. Don't know exactly why, but each and every yr. I seem to crave my non-holiday decorated surroundings back, my kids (all of them, big, small, black and white) back to where they belong, Dear Hubby (DH) back to work and me back to the many tasks at hand that I take jurisdiction over. Could be a need for security, could be a desire for orderliness, or most likely, just plain boring old age setting in! And it matters not how perfectly lovely my holiday has been, it always ends up with my deep desire to stand out on my front porch and scream, 'OK, ENOUGH ALREADY!". Anyone else have this wacky tendency? Anyway, I must run now, run quickly back to my 'tasks at hand'.....thank you, Lord!

Wow, tough blogger world
Hope it's not a 'sign' or something, but about 5 minutes after my last post (which was about 5 minutes ago) I just read the highlights of the news and it spoke about a blogger that was 'detained' in Saudi Arabia due to his political posts. YIKES , once again, thank you, Lord for my freedom.
Ok, but it's backwards
Well I've now been to my new website thing like 4 times in the last hour, ya know, to check things out....and it seems to be posting new posts backwards. So if someone where to actually really choose to visit this thing, the WELCOME post would be the very last one at the bottom of the page! Maybe it's just cause I'm in Georgia but that feels backward to me. I'll have to further check into this to see what, if anything, I can tweak to fix it. Anyway, please know that each and everyone of you are 'welcome' to my thing here.
Until...

Seems to be working...
Well, the good news is this thing seems to be working, or could it be me that is working it? The bad news is, and I'm sure it's not real news to anyone but stay with me here, Florida Gators just lost to Michigan before zillions of Fl. fans down in sunnyFl. Ouch! That hurt. My DH actually got emotional about the whole shabang....I mean he even said those words, 'this is so emotional!'. Wow, and all this time I thought it was me, our wonderful marriage and our happy home that created that emotion in him!!!!
Well I wish everyone a happy and wonderfully healthy New Year!
Love to all,
L.
P.S. I will explain my strange blogspot name at some point....there is a reason behind it (other than just the regular 'Lisa's Life' was taken reason, although that did contribute to it)

Hi everyone! WELCOME and thanks for dropping in! It is New Year's day and I kind of just stumbled upon creating this thing. I really was seeking a diversion from the Fl./Michigan game (Fl. is getting clobbered!). Our college football watching has heightened to a whole new level since we blessed ourselves with this new widescreen T.V.! I guess you could say, in honor of New Year's Day, 'out with the old, in with the new' ! That is 'code' for GOODBYE beautiful-yet-too-small-handcarved-gorgeous-armoire and HELLO to this way-too-contemporary-obnoxiously-large decorating delema known as our TV!!!! Well, at least dear hubby is thrilled with the result!!! (but not about the score of this current game---well, it is N.Y's day, so on to the next game!).
I'll call it a wrap for the moment, since I'm just experimenting here....
Until later.
Love to all,
Lisa
